Jambo!
Welcome to our space (you and I), let's get cosier here and have the time of our lives!
I hope you are not already bored with that welcome line, it's still in it's early days of use...(and 1000 accompanying, lame excusesπ).
Well, I hope your days are coming along fine and you get some time to take a breather even as you read through this.
Let's get right into it!
I won't lie, since I learnt of the word 'vulnerable', I have been yearning to use it even in statements where it makes no sense completely! There are words that when used, elevate one to a class and undrape the bougee and one no longer looks like a commoner. This was and as you see, it still is that word. Let's say that is how some words gas me up, I am sure you have your own-you're welcome!
What does it mean though? π
According to the Wiktionary dictionary; vulnerability is susceptibilty to injury or attack. So, is this the perfect word for what I mean?
I am still uncertain, but I like the word so let's delve in and you will get to judge whether it is appropriate or not.
God through the biblical accounts let's us know him for who he is. When we are not sure what to term his character or behaviour, he just gives us a word for it.
In the account where Moses inquires of how introduce God to the Pharaoh, God prefers to be known as 'I am'. When the Israelites are still learning of God's character he out-rightly tells them, "I am a jealous God." When he sees that Israelites have fallen countless times, he let's them know that he is merciful and abounding in love...(Exodus 34:6-7).
All those characteristics or self reveals through the Bible from the Old to the New Testament show that God does not keep part of himself unknown or hidden. Okay, maybe his face or physical form although he made up for those through Jesus.
It is very likely to question his straightforwardness in character but it would end up in the simple answer, 'He is God. '
'Where are you headed with this?' You ask.
To where I have been pointing at for the past few weeks-self knowledge.
I marvel at the fact that God doesn't show himself all good or just give himself all the good names, he let's the people come up with those good ones at times but he also let's himself come off as a 'punisher'(borrowed this from a movie that I havent watchedπ€£). When he says ' I am a jealous God' that leaves me at a wow, just wow! And I am like, "that's too much a word for you to say!" But who am I, that's just it, He would not want to compete with anyone else in sovereignty. I could refer to this particular statement a gazillion times and it would still sound like I have not mentioned it at all.
Do not get me wrong though, I am not in any way comparing you and I to God in an equality scale but I would be glad if we borrowed two or three things from who he has revealed himself to be to us.
He has such knowledge of himself that he expresses through generations yet he is so vulnerable that he let's it all out here for us to pick or leave or attack; it is all upon us. What fruit would our attack bear? None, I guess.
Hence, learning from the best we ought to reach a level of self knowledge that our weakness and strengths are not what we think when developing our resumes and when going for interviews, it has to be what we are already informed on and working on each and every day.
Vulnerability comes in when you have known who you are and can comfortably express it whether it be attractive or ugly;when attacked, you will know how to pick it up to your healing and knit yourself up better. I am not quite sure this is what God does, because as it is he is perfect in every way, but in his vulnerability we can check.
Truth be told, vulnerability without self knowledge or a deep understanding of ourselves can tear us down and we would rather stay in that cocoon of ours.
I'd suggest we just take time to know 'us'. I take time to know 'me' and you 'you'. Then and only then can you give a shot at being vulnerable as it will be less painful not painless of course but it's impact will be less harming than before the self knowledge period.
It's your time to judge, was this a fitting thought?
Your comments are highly welcome.
Till next time.
Adios.

Very fitting ππΎππΎππΎ
